Transformation, Is it important to you?

How significant is transformation in your life? Or maybe you think that it isn't transformation that you need at all.

Sometimes we use different words that mean the same thing, such as growth or, as I sometimes refer to changes in my life, as my metamorphosis. Either way, if none of these terms resonate with you, then no need to read any further.

There is a saying, " if you're not growing, you're dying." I think it's safe to say that it is the last thing any of us want!

You see, growing up in Brooklyn, NY, in the '60s and '70s, I was never given the tools to look at my life as I do now. My parents weren't growth-oriented. Or at least they weren't verbal or consciously aware of it. More than likely, they didn't know how to talk about it either. It wasn't a thing then.

As I grew up and started working, I never thought much about the future or my growth as an individual. I didn't know what I was doing was anything other than what I was doing.

During those earlier years, not having clear goals, not having a growth plan, a part of me was dying. Mind you, I was unaware of it until now as I am writing this. (That's the magic of writing and journaling each day. You never know what is going to come out of it. Though I digress, and we will get to that at another time. ) The death of this sort happens slowly over time. You wake up one day and see that your life hasn't gone anywhere.

You might be financially secure and have provided for your family though there is much more to life than those things. There is one's soul. There is the work that we do that helps others and helps ourselves and, in turn, makes us better people because of it.

I didn't think the work I was performing was having a significant impact on people's lives. Though as I look back, I know it has. Whether as a tour manager for rock and roll groups, as an accountant working with my father. Or even as a Triathlon Coach helping athletes achieve goals which they never thought imaginable.

As a Transformational Business Coach, I guide my clients through the transformations they want to achieve in their lives! So that they can become better leaders, people, parents, friends, partners, and anything else they want to be better and more successful at. So at times, I see myself as what Yoda was to Luke Skywalker but for entrepreneurs, small business owners, executives, professionals, etc.

This change or metamorphosis doesn't happen by itself or overnight. That is something that you need to think about and have intentionality around. Transformation is something that you have to work on every day. Small habits, done every day, reap huge rewards. That's transformation, that's moving forward, that's what life is all about.

So let me ask the question once more,

How significant is transformation in your life?

Thanks for hanging in there for my morning missive.

Have a transformational day!

Joshua
