Are You Deserving?

Is it a tricky question or a trick question? I've heard people say, "you are what you're committed to. " Measuring this by looking to see what you have in your life. At your relationships, at your bank account, at yourself in the mirror. What you currently have and what you see is what you are committed to. You can also say that's what you deserve. Don't mistake that for what your potential is but what you deserve. Not what you are worthy of but again, what you deserve. The work that you have put in each and every day is what you currently have in your life. So if you don't like what you see, you have can choose to change it. But you need to be brutally honest with yourself. You have to be truthful. Otherwise, nothing is going to change.

This is what I was faced with and the question, amongst many others, that I ask myself often. If things aren't going as I planned or hoped, am I deserving? Usually, the brutally honest answer is no. There are things that I can be doing, different questions I can be asking! It's not always that you are not busy. You might not be doing the right things. You might be solving the wrong problem. The most important job an entrepreneur has is to Think. To step back and give yourself the time and space to do just that.

Keith J. Cunningham talks about "Thinking Time" in his book The Road Less Stupid. Regardless of the process or how long etc., you spend thinking and solving the problems that you come across each and every day, you need to do it. Unfortunately, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, executives, etc., don't see that thinking is working. Thinking is the job! This can be your biggest obstacle; this could be the bottleneck stopping you from getting to the next level. So next time you are sitting idly and starring into space, understand that this is your most powerful asset. Your ability to ask the right questions and think into the right answers.

Then when you ask yourself am I deserving...you can answer YES!
